Joshua Updates
To Learn About Self and Others:
Joshua continues to enjoy group participation. He is starting to open up even more during this time. He is capable of pulling his sleeves up before meal times and after going potty. He still is trying the potty chair and sometimes tries to pull his pants down.
To Learn About Moving:
Joshua really loves doing the "freeze" song in the muscle room. He will also run and plop himself down on a mat with his friends. He enjoys doing his journal, performing art projects and building with blocks.
To Learn About the World:
Joshua likes playing with the trucjs and any toy that makes noise in our dramatic play area. He is still learning when to use his words when toy gets taken from him. He cries first then with a bit of help he will state, "no, my toy!"
To Learn About Communicating:
Joshua continues to use his manners vocabulary and with sign language. It's great to see and hear him do both. :) His communication with friends is increasing. We are starting to see him engage with two or more friends at a time. :)
Favorite Activities and Special Interests:
Joshua still loves to sing! He enjoys running, building with blocks, reading booking and pushing trucks. :)
Situations or Experiences That Causes Distress:
We are pleased to see Joshua engage with his friends more. We are still encouraging him to use his words during stressful situations. This encouragement will instil pride and confidence.
Next Steps at the Program and at Home:
We will continue to encourage potty training, using helpful words for desired outcome and introduce more signs to help! :)

Parent conference was tonight. Over all, I think it went well. His teacher says that he LOVES to interact with his buddies. As mentioned above, he loves the freeze song. When the music tells them to freeze, he will spread his legs and hands apart and stand very still along with his friends. The boys will often times play a "game", which they all came up with. They will stand at one end of the room, yell "go!" and run to the other end of the room.
They also started a journal for Josh. He was asked to draw something and when asked what it was, he said "Thomas". The most recent journal entry was on ELMO'S birthday. He was shown a picture of elmo and was asked to draw him.... his journal had a big red blob on there. lol.
His teacher says that he's been asking to be put on the toilet... but he hasn't really done anything besides sitting.
It seems that potty time is going alot better there than at home. With time, I hope he will be potty trained soon.
She also mentioned that he's big on hugging. She said that one time Josh and the other boys wanted to bring blocks up the slide and was told no and so he cried and then later got down, ran to his teacher and gave her a hug. We constantly hug and kiss at home, so that's something he's used to doing... especially when he's sorry.
"I do it!", "I did it!", "show me!", "I am..." are some of the things he likes to say. He rambles alot.... it's so funny to hear him ramble away as if he's actually talking or saying words we understand.
He's been very fasinated in ABCs and 123s. When we're at the store and he sees a sign, he'll start throwing out random letters. Often times he'll run over to the fridge to play with his ABC magnets and I'll hear him calling out letters. His 123s.... he is almost able to count to 10 but is missing 2 numbers out of the 10 and its ALWAYS they same ones. He'll say, "1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10" 2 out of 10 isn't so bad... right? :) I'm working on it but it's frustating because his attention span is so little with us. He loves books but doesn't even allow me to read an entire page before he wants to turn it.
Pretty soon he'll be moving in to another room. I'm excited to see him grow and learn...
